Arizona Dreaming

These textured discs have a slightly upturned edge and form this large stud earring with a Sterling silver drop ,set with a stunning +AA Turquoise round 8.5mm cabochon. The Turquoise is from the Kingman Mine in Arizona, which has an excellent true blue colour with virtually no blemishes.

The original was made from a disc and heat treated to melt the surface and create an 'orange peel' look -then cast using the lost wax casting method

The exact origins of lost wax casting are shrouded in mystery and it is possible that the technique was developed independently in different regions, but archaeological records suggest that the method was first used at some point in the fourth millennium BC
