Tortoise or Turtle

Tortoises have more rounded and domed shells where turtles have thinner, more water-dynamic shellsTurtle shells are more streamlined to aid in swimming. One major key difference is that tortoises spend most of their time on land and turtles are adapted for life spent in water

The longest-living tortoise verified by the Guinness Book of World Records is Jonathan, who is 190 years old and still living

The previous oldest chelonian was Tu’i Malila, a radiated tortoise that lived to be at least 188. Presented to the royal family of Tonga by Captain Cook c.1777, Tu’i Malila remained in their care until its death in 1965

This little tortoise is only 20mm in length and is on a Waterlily pad - AND his head and tail moves from side to side!!

The carved wood Turtle was spotted this week in Liberty of London, on the beautiful wood staircase - The timber used throughout was actually sourced from two dismantled ships, the HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan

Liberty Tudor building is a true London icon, and I am proud to have sold my jewels there for eighteen years in the '80s and '90s
